Tips for Traveling with Your Kitty

“I just got done moving from Texas to New Jersey (a 3 day road trip) with cats in the car. This litter box was a must have! While trying to save space I just loaded this with litter and left. No need for a scooper or any other accessories. The cats didn’t mind it one bit and it was easy to just lift the first layer to sift and dump the clumps. I’ll buy this anytime I have to take the cats on a trip.” Logan, Amazon

One of the great things about being a kitty parent is the relatively low level of caretaking they need compared to dogs, or children 😹 This means that most of the time, your kitty stays at home & waits for their feeder to return to them. But what do you do in the instance of long travel with your feline friend??

KittySift® was recently named by CatThink as one of the Best Disposable Litter Boxes For Travel, so we thought we would share some tips for when the time comes for you to pack up your feisty kitty & hit the road!

Check in with your vet

It is always advisable to meet with your veterinarian prior to any big trips to ensure your cat is healthy enough to travel. They can also give you specific tips based on their history and personality. For example, if they get carsick or are prone to high anxiety it is always best to begin your adventure prepared!

Plan Ahead!

Make sure to plan ahead for your trip. It’s always a great idea to pack extra supplies as you never know what products are regional! Additionally if you are flying, carry all of your kitty’s medications in your carry-on to avoid any important lost baggage. For pit stops, you should plan on stopping every few hours to give your kitty access to their litter box, food and water.

Keep Them Safe

Pre-trip, make sure that your kitty’s microchip is up to date or they have a well-fitting collar with an ID tag. Once you’re on the move, make sure your kitty stays in their crate at all times. It may be tempting to let them roam (and easier on the ears) but it will keep both you and your kitty safe!! A hard carrier is always recommended over a soft carrier or wire crate.

Keep their litter habits healthy

Kitty Sift eco-friendly sifting litter box products are not only great for daily use, but provide a perfect solution for traveling with your kitty. Not only do the sifting layers keep litter drier & minimize odors, but they keep the process simple- eliminating the need for a scooper or any other accessories. PLUS when you finish your trip, you can just throw it away thanks to our material made from 100% post-consumer waste recycled cardboard.
