‘Tis the Season of Kitty Decor Destruction
Making the best of your festive furry friend
One of the reasons kitties LOVE our biodegradable litter box products (and cardboard in general) is because of its natural smell & organic textures. While this is usually ‘the cutest’ when they create a new home out of a LaCroix box or other delivery, it can become quite a nuisance when it comes to the holidays. Much like the attraction of the natural materials that make up cardboard, the Christmas Tree is often a recipient of similar excitement.
While there isn’t any foolproof method to keep your kitty OUT of your Christmas tree, try some of these tips to make the experience less frustrating for the whole family!
Create a Kitty Tree
Create a ‘Catsmas Tree’ nearby out of cat safe catnip or cat grass for them to chew on!
Invest in a Sturdy Stand
We strongly recommend investing in a sturdy tree stand that will hold up to any of your kitty’s curiosities. Unlike the traditional design, we like these stands from Tree Nest that affix to your tree 6 inches higher than competitors for a more stable stand.
Place Fragile Ornaments Out of Reach
This may seem obvious, but each year we seem to forget in the moment of decorating! Make sure any fragile or heirloom ornaments are high up & placed deeper inside the tree for best results! Leave the stuffed, wooden or plastic ornaments lower down for your kitty to bat around!
Use an Automatic Tree Waterer
Have a water-obsessed cat? Invest in an automatic waterer to keep your Christmas tree hydrated! The HoHoHoH2O is affordable, effective & super cute!
Remove Chairs, Shelves and Platforms Surrounding the Tree
If your kitty can imagine it, they can pounce to it! Make sure your tree is a pounce-and-a-half away from all platforms.
We hope your holidays are merry, bright & full of snuggles. While this list won’t keep your kitty from taking over your 7ft fir, we hope that these tips will make it a little less… messy.
